Your Impact
You will be part of a critical team that ensures life-saving technology can be manufactured reliably and consistently. You will work with a team of talented manufacturing engineers to support the equipment, processes and personnel in our Phoenix manufacturing facility for Axon’s De-Escalation Devices & accessories.
What You’ll Do
Location: Onsite at our Phoenix, AZ manufacturing plant
Reports to: Manufacturing Engineering Director, De-Escalation Devices
Direct Reports: N/A
- Develop and sustain manufacturing processes that meet cost, ergonomic, quality, and cycle time requirements for high-volume production.
- Collaborate closely with Product Design/R&D teams to influence manufacturability early in the product lifecycle; provide feedback on design-for-manufacturing (DFM), materials selection, and assembly tolerances.
- Design and implement production tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods using SolidWorks.
- Lead process characterization and optimization using DOE, SPC, and other data-driven methodologies.
- Evaluate and integrate manufacturing technologies including machining, molding, additive manufacturing, and joining methods (e.g., soldering, ultrasonic welding, mechanical fastening).
- Drive implementation of traceability systems and MES integration to enhance process visibility and compliance.
- Partner cross-functionally with Quality, Product, and Automation Engineering to ensure robust and repeatable manufacturing outcomes.
- Identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvement, and process efficiency, leveraging AI/data tools where appropriate.
- Provide hands-on technical support on the manufacturing floor, troubleshooting issues with equipment, materials, and processes.
- Manage projects effectively—plan, execute, and monitor technical milestones to meet production and launch schedules.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering for high-volume or high-reliability products.
- Strong foundation in mechanical design and CAD modeling (SolidWorks preferred).
- Practical, hands-on prototyping skills—familiarity with machining, 3D printing, assembly, and basic electronics integration.
- Deep understanding of materials and processes, especially polymers, metals, and joining methods.
- Applied knowledge of manufacturing principles (DFM, DFA, PFMEA, SPC, lean, six sigma).
- Experience implementing or integrating MES, traceability, or digital manufacturing systems.
- Analytical mindset with experience using statistical tools or AI-assisted data analysis for problem-solving.
