As a Senior Product Designer on the New Ventures team, you willwork with a talented team focused on building next generation robotics technologies that save lives. Your role is focused on the design discipline where you will quickly build, measure, learn, and iterate to deliver impactful and pleasant user experiences. You will work at the intersection of multiple cutting edge hardware and software products to own and deliver solutions that meet complex customer needs in the public safety space. Initially, this role will focus on designing mobile and web applications in support of the tactical indoor drone use case.

What You’ll Do
Location: Remote, close to Eastern Time Zone preferred
Reports to: Senior Product Manager, New Ventures
- Develop and own the product design and process for our next generation drone robotics ecosystem, from initial research and discovery through concepting, detailed designs, prototyping, testing and working with Engineering on implementation.
- Build, measure, and learn/iterate quickly on ideas to reach solutions/recommendations rapidly.
- Partner closely with Product Management across the New Ventures team to shape and align with overall product vision and strategy.
- Work across teams with cross-functional stakeholders such as Hardware Engineering, Software Engineering, and others to creatively build solutions that excite our customers.
- Turn complex interactions involving a diverse set of users, a complex physical environment, social interactions, regional differences, and an ecosystem of hardware devices and software applications into simple experience solutions.
- Build alignment and articulate vision through strong storytelling and presentations skills.
- Present products and feature ideas externally to customers and internally up to executive level.
- Think in terms of broad platform and systems strategy rather than siloed features.
- Work across multiple mediums (web, mobile, presentations, storyboards, videos, 3D).
What You Bring
- 7+ years of product design experience with at least 2 years of leading major product design initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, HCI or related field. A master's degree is considered a plus.
- Previous experience designing mobile and web software used by drone stakeholders (pilots, program managers, compliance/regulations) strongly preferred
- Deep understanding and appreciation of the drone pilot user persona, workflows, needs, and pain points.
- At least 5 years experience researching, designing and shipping complete web and mobile applications for iOS and Android with a moderate to high level of complexity (enterprise or complex consumer workflows rather than simple consumer flows).
- Ability to travel 15-20% annually
- A proven track record of applying user-centered design processes and methodology to product definition, design, and development. You have experience with every stage of the design process, including: research, sketches, wireframes, high fidelity mock-ups, prototyping, and usability testing.
- You enjoy collaborating on early product definition as much as you enjoy working with the larger product and engineering teams on implementation.
- Strong conceptual skills and proven ability to rapidly prototype and design to communicate ideas to others.
- A broad skillset with deep specialization in at least one area (IA, UX, visual, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain your ideas and decisions in a way that anyone can understand.
- Highly knowledgeable of the latest design tools and proficient at quickly learning new ones. We currently use Figma but are always evaluating new tools.
- Self-starter able to function both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
- Comfortable working without fully defined requirements in the early phases of the product lifecycle.
- Interest in how you can leverage new AI based design tools.
- You are able to function both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

The Pay: Axon is a total compensation company, meaning compensation is made up of base pay, bonus, and stock awards. The starting base pay for this role is between USD 114,000 in the lowest geographic market and USD 220,000 in the highest geographic market. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: level, function, training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, geographic market, and often a combination of all these factors.
