Among its most rapidly expanding areas is the development of robotics for law enforcement and tactical use. Following Axon's acquisition of Sky-Hero, the leading Brussels-based provider of tactical UAVs and UGVs, our focus has intensified on creating cutting-edge indoor aerial and ground drones for elite tactical teams in law enforcement and military special operations.
We are seeking a Signal Processor Engineer to support the Sky-Hero team in Brussels, taking a key role in the selection and integration of advanced sensing technologies, as well as implementation of latest signal processing features on cutting edge UAV and UVG reconnaissance products. Drones are already a vital tool to ensure safer and better outcomes for both law enforcement officers and the communities they serve. Axon is in a unique position to build the ecosystem to accelerate this trend and to leverage the latest developments in drone technology to protect life.
What You’ll Do
Location:Brussels, Belgium
Reports to: Director of Engineering
- Prototyping of robotic devices in coordination with mechanical and electronical engineering team, along with software engineering, imaging and computer vision teams
- Involvement in requirements, testing and release procedures, and taking an active part in implementing those procedures, to ensure the quality of deliverables matches the demanding situations and environments Sky-Hero products are expected to operate in
- Contributing to translating sensing technology into features that support and expand the situational awareness of UxV operators
- Taking part in the research and validation of core sensing hardware to enable cutting-edge sensing and autonomous capabilities on new Sky-Hero products
What You Bring
- Degree in Robotics, Sensor technology or a related discipline with at least 8 years of experience in the design and development of robotics systems, or advanced Degree with at least 4-6 years of experience in the design and development of robotics systems
- Significant experience with complex system architectures and systems integration
- Experience translating research algorithms to on-device implementations with a deep understanding of resource utilization, real-time requirements and other constraints
- Good proficiency with a prototyping language such as Python, and a production-ready language such as C, C++ or Rust
- English proficiency required, French and or Dutch are a plus
Any experience with the following is a plus:
- Past experience developing robotics control or motion planning features, on a product targeted for release to users.
- Experience developing autonomous products for GPS-denied environments
- Deep Learning, particularly in the contexts of Computer Vision, Dynamics or Controls
- PX4, ROS (particularly ROS 2)
